Default OK - Let's try a Poll - Cool Wall Submission Autavia PVD

    Okay, here goes, a poll.

I though I would tender my PVD Autavia for status on the Cool Wall.
This may divide opinions, as PVD is not everyone's cup of tea, and Green may prove especially unpopular.

But I like it, so there.

I was inspired to get one of these having seen Al's black one, which seemed to get a lot of admiration (not least by myself), but this is pleasingly different.

It is also one of the most legible chrono's around. Really clear dial, only two colours to differentiate, and good differential between the hand-shapes.

I like the symmetrical dial too, two simple sub-dials, and a date at 6. Clear. Simple.

The case is a good solid lump. It looks like it was built to knock in fenceposts.

I think it all fits for a very cool military-styled chrono, but am not sure everyone will agree.

So what do you think, All Action Hero, Action Man, or Allergic Re-Action? (Uber, Cool or Uncool, respectively, just in case)

If it's Lemania-powered, I'm interested. Tool Chrono - interested. Dive Chrono - interested. Interesting - interested

    Thumbs up Union Jack Jackson

Union Jack Jackson all the way for me... that guy was a character in the comic Battle, when i was a kid.... great watch Dave, I would love to try that on too....

Good going on the poll, its pretty easy... great to see you've made up your Gallery too.....it would be boring with just ATG pics there... besides you want to take a crack at winning a Lemania in the User Gallery competition right?

If you don't mid I took the liberty of a little edit, those watches are very difficult to shoot I should know so I tweaked this for you..... hope you don't mind..?

Yeah, sorry about my colour balance, I guess the monitor I use at home is not quite as true-colour as I would like.

I sure wish TAG would reissue that one. Looks brown on my monitor, but if it is the black Autavia military model I've seen before, I'd likely whip out the plastic for one.

So exactly what was that plating on the originals anyway, black oxide? Black chrome? I don't think they did PVD back then.

The black is, I think, an oxide coating and is impregnated into the actual metal of the case. This was not done with their bracelets, which is why some of the black ones can look a little odd, as the original surfaces no longer match.

The bracelets all have the same type of coating as this one, which seems to be some type of stove enamelling, which eventually wears off, and can be flaked off with effort (if you want to, that is).

the caseback is pretty good (to reply to an earlier point). No photos just yet, but all the original casting and codes. No military engraving, this wasn't an officially issued watch, it just used to belong to a soldier.

    Cheers
