Default IWC B-Uhr Cal. 52 SC

Thought you'd like this one gents, an 'Antiques Roadshow' moment, but a beautiful example of this watch...

    Posted on MWR:

A chap on another forum has had possession of a few watches from his late grandparents:

"I'm hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction. I have several old watches I found while clearing out after my nan died.
I'd like to get an idea of value(if at all) but have no idea where I should go to.
Below is a picture of the watches if that helps.
    "

    I asked a bit about provenance -

"Sorry no idea of how my grandad got them, I know he was in the war and spent a portion of it in belson(sp). He was with the medical corp but not sure where abouts he served although I also found his pay book among other things so that may shed some light on locations."

Here is the complete collection -

Obviously the B-Uhr was interesting; I asked for further pictures as I suspect it is an IWC Cal. 52, he provided these -

With a link to fuller pictures, including the other watches shown HERE

The guy is probably looking to sell or at least is interested in a valuation. Of course, I know these 'in passing', but would appreciate confirmation of what it is and a ball park value range given, to my eye at least, the excellent condition.

Yep, he is partially disabled so thought he'd get rid of a few pens, cigarette cards, watches and so on to fund his rehab., he asked about the watches originally on this thread - http://www.pistonheads.com/xforums/t...Old+watches%3F
and I thought I spotted that it wasn't just a B-Uhr but perhaps the rarest and most desirable one, the IWC.
He's contacted Christies and Bonhams and been met with indifference from what I'm sure are first call takers, even after reading the MWR thread where Konrad comments...go figure...

    Hopefully he'll get something sorted.
