    Default Benrus Type 1

Just had this one in, a '74 Benrus Type 1.

Made to milspec 50717 - note the lack of makers name or any other script on the dial -

Awesome dome crystal on these -

The asymetric case provides the shoulders to protect the crown -

The steel is a grade that appears dull and grey (like titanium), perfect for a mil watch - (note the solid strap bars)

    And the caseback engravings -

Quite an impressive piece. No fuss, just all business.

And sits well on the wrist - the only strap I have for it at the moment, it came from the seller so I'll make a donation!

I really like it. Nice find...! Also, I think it works with that strap.

Nice Benrus type I.Here is mine it's the Type II that has a different dial.

I have a original strap on it but it has a different clasp that I like better than a buckle.

    Like the clasp!

An original strap would be a good idea for it, I'll have to have a dig around. Doubtless another foray fraught with pitfalls.

    Cheers

Andy, I believe the black nylon I sent is a modern version of the original strap - the only difference is the darkened hardware.

    Cheers all, Colin

I think you popped a Rhino in instead Colin - not to worry, I had a read up on it last night and have ordered the modern version from the US as a Xmas present to self
MIL-S-46383 / Type III is a good read if you have trouble sleeping...

Thanks Al, I thought I remembered one here somewhere.
