    Default A long awaited arrival...

As it happens, I while ago I decided to rationalise and get rid of a few pieces, however in a story which will be familiar to many (I'm sure...) the resolve quickly crumbled and with my plans awry I found myself adding to the collection rather than diminishing it.

Anyway, this turned up last week. Believe it or not, it is actually becoming quite difficult to find one of these that hasn't been 'pimped'. Although there are probably few examples (and quite possibly none) which could be described as 'unmolested' given the design of the watch and the number of these produced and issued into active service, I searched long and hard to try and find one that hasn't had a recent makeover with suspiciously new looking elements (specifically: dial, hand set, bezel).

What really surprises me is how easy it is to wear: it has a lower profile than I expected, and the simplicity and functionality of the design is really superb. The Valjoux 230 is ticking away at that leisurely 18,000 bph and running at a perfect +4-5 seconds per day... but in a telling way, I just keep forgetting to wind the damn thing... not enough military discipline, I guess.

Just one shot for now (sorry for the quality):

congrats Flugzeit - it looks really good. Of all the models available it looks like you picked the same as mine, with the large circle and little dot between 3 and H. One question: case back - single number or strike through?

    regards longbear

    Thanks for the comments.

Yes, its the 3H you've described. The case-back has a single number, no strike through. I'll post a picture later in the week.

Looks like a great example - well worth the search.

I think you'll find the 'strike through' casebacks with the double NSNs were added to the Sinn refurb's when they were 'reissued' to the Luftwaffe after Sinn removed the tritium dials etc, so theoretically, they should only be found on the non-tritium, cut-off font/number dial watches?

    Regards

    Jon'.
