Default Auricoste Spirotechnique French Navy Issue

I got this one a few weeks ago at the MWR forum. It's a French Navy issue Diver made by Auricste Spirotechnique issued in the 1990's has a ETA 2824 movement. This is my first post here.I used a WW2 US Navy chronometer as a prop.

    Hi,
And welcome to Al's little site. Both watches very nice. I'd love to know more of the history behind the WW1 issue piece, but I do love these Auricoste's and I can see one working its way into my collection.

The marine chronometer makes a good background, but it's got to be worthy of a few pics of it's own . We've been discussing a TV serial called Longitude dramatising the life of John Harrison who is credited with designing and building the first marine chronometer that enabled sailors to accurately identify longitude at sea.

    Hi river rat,

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your recent score. Picked up a Auricoste Spiro MN recently myself to accompany my Beuchat 1000m MN, both awesome watches.

Did your Auricoste come with decomm papers?

    Default Welcome!

Great to see you here, Mike. I've been trying to convince myself that I don't need an Auricoste and you're not helping. Menno also posted some photos of his MN issued Auricoste yesterday on another thread here http://forum.atgvintagewatches.com/s...ead.php?t=1939

I gather that these Auricostes outnumbered all other MN watches 2:1 towards the end of their service life so they were certainly popular, or perhaps Auricoste sold them to the MN for a good price?

Looking forward to seeing more of your watches and that USN chronometer you're teasing us with!

    Regards

    Jon'.

Mike, I think I know where your Auricoste came from but more importantly, if I'm right I know where the decom' papers are for it or at the very least, a photo of the watch with the papers...send me a pm and I'll see if I can help.

    Regards

Hey, Dan, I know you are selling yours - good luck by the way - but could you please post your photos on this thread too, for future reference?

    Regards

    Jon'.
