Default Interesting one on EBay - Eberhard Chieftain Diascope Lemania 5195

    Not many of these around

Note that the date is replaced with an independently-settable 24-hr hand for GMT display, thus giving the 5100 one of its 2 guises in tri-compax layout (the other being Eberhard's Mareoscope).

Eberhard make a nice watch too.

I am also liking the rare white on blue dial, although I am less sure about the 12 cuts into the bezel.

It'll be interesting to see where this gets to, it certainly needn't get too high as I know of another one brand new for less than 1000. Ask if you want to know where.

Only 50m WR on these too, which is perhaps less than could have been achieved.

Cheers Dave - that's an interesting one, I'd seen the Mareoscope but never noticed this one.

Interesting that it seems to have deleted the date, moved the 24hr but made that independently settable - although the non-settable 24hr indicator was useful to some degree on the standard 5100 I'd always thought that an independent one would have offered more to the user...but in this case the price is that you lose the date - so I'm not sure that the usefulness is improved really.

However, seen for what it is, it's certainly a nice layout and the white on blue dial is cool, especially as you say for a 5100. Not sure about that castellated bezel either, but certainly an individual take on the whole 5100 thing.

If only they'd been able to keep the date, the SZ01 would have been obsolete before they even thought of it (especially as the GMT dial is independently settable).

I've always thought this would movement have made a good pil or mil-style watch.

But it only came like this and in the slightly more stylistically challenged Frecce tricolori style of Eberhard.

Ended at 1260 - quite a lot actually, 300 more than one that is totally new from a Belgian dealer.....
