Default From one of the original Vintage Doxa guys..

A Doxa fan for many years I was one of the 'small' contributors to his book.... Dr. Pete McClean Millar... one of the good guys... with his book for sale here... worth a read...

Guys, thought you might be interested. Over the weekend I was in Florida for fabien Cousteau's Mission 31 "Splash day". DOXA are the official timekeepers and a sponsor of the event. Here are some pics from Sunday. Firstly, I have to say it was a tremendous experience to be invited to be part of it all. It was just amazing. Sunday was really all about the final preparation for the Aquanauts and for DOXA. Fabien and the team were constantly giving update interviews to the Weather Channel and another Spanish speaking network. The quayside was lined the camermen and reporters. This pic is of Fabien and the Weather Channel lady.

When it was time to sail there was a great speech from Fabien and final group photos.

We were at the shore base when the team arrived and entered Aquarius. This photo shows Fabien as he entered the main habitat.

Then it was up to us to prepare the 31 Mission 31 watches for the presentation at the History of Diving Museum. And here they all are in their cases.

The museum was a fantastic place. If you are ever in that part of Florida you owe it to yourself to spend some time there.

I have a couple of diving helmets at home including a full size Mark V, but as you can see from this pic, I don't even come a close second and this is literally a fraction of the stuff they have there. They also have probably the best collection of historical diving books and magazines anywhere. Heck, they even have a copy of Diving With Legends..... I got to pretend to be the almost famous author guy and sign it :-)

Later in the evening there was a live link up from the Aquanauts. There were a few glitches with the transmission but it worked remarkably well.

Dirk Cussler was there too. He gave a great presentation on NUMA and today Dirk was diving to Aquarius to deliver the Mission 31 watches.

Unfortunately I couldn't stay. I left about 9PM to head back to Miami to pick up an early flight this morning. I'm totally banjaxed but it was just a fantastic experience. Really so pleased to be even a small part of it.

    Awesome stuff.

Trying to better 30 days and pay tribute to the 50th anniversary. Great stuff.

Jason Heaton has been posting images on Instagram too (@JasonHeaton).
