Default FS - 1968 Omega Chronostop 120m Diver with Internal Bezel 145.008

A whopping great service bill (5 auto chronos - ouch) and a few "projects" mean I need to find some cash, so this is reluctantly offered for sale only. Sorry, no trades.

It is a 1968 Omega Chronostop, the 120m dive version with inner rotating 0-60 bezel. In other words a 145.008. The best of the range, I think, equipped with the manual wind 865 movement, an Omega development of a Lemania ebauche.

These are a sizeable but wearable hunk of under-rated Omega, in my opinion, really comfy to wear, 41mm diameter, 47mm lug to lug, and only 14.5mm thick to the top of its domed plexi.

It was totally serviced and reconditioned at STS in Feb 2009, and is offered with everything that they sent back to me, including the STS soft case, all replaced parts, laminated certificate of work undertaken, receipt (383 in total) and readout of waterproofing test to 10Bar (100m), issued to me at my specific request.

During the service, they replaced dial, hands, pusher and glass, as well as a total movement overhaul. Every replaced part is included in the deal.

They also re-did the sunburst finish on the front of case, lightly (they cannot do the full Bienne job), so have a good look at the photos. There is damage, but the texture has been re-applied over the top, and personally, I like the look. It looks well used, but still presentable.

Note the textured damage on the 2 o'clock lug surface, ding to case edge at 11, speckling near the winding crown, and worn hippocampus logo on the rear. These are the low points.

There is, of course, still 10 months to run on the service guarantee. I guess I have worn it on about 10 occasions since the service, so it has been wound but not abused. There are no marks on the pristine new crystal, complete with the engraved Omega in the centre.

I have fully wound it, it continued (chrono operating - it is the only way to tell seconds) for an impressive 52 hours and over a 24-hr period was at -7 secs when laid on the caseback. I guess it will be more accurate if worn and if the chrono is not operated continuously.

It is offered on a nice fitting 22mm black leather strap from ATG (these usually cost about 50), with vintage (cream) stitching, which I have fitted with a period Omega buckle, kindly supplied by STS at the time of service (and referred to in the receipt). To be honest the buckle is a little scratchy on the strap, as the buckle was clearly designed for something a little thinner and without padding, but it does fit.

So overall we have a very nicely sized manual wind Omega from '68, proven 100m waterproofing, with 1-hr chronograph capability (using the bezel set to the minute hand at start).

It is guaranteed by the UK authorised service agent for another 10 months, and a bunch of period spares are thrown in for good measure, or reinstatement if you prefer.

I am asking SOLD-SOLD-SOLD, inlcusive of RMSD in the UK, provided I get all those funds (Bank transfer or Paypal gift). Other payments methods considered on merit.

It is steep for a Chronostop, but this is the best one and it is offered with a complete-enough package to warrant the price.

If you don’t agree, try an offer, but be warned I may say no.

    Once again, sorry no trades.

Look forward to hearing from you.
