    Default First Lemania

Hello, I'm new to the forum and to Lemania watches. I've always admired them and a few years ago finally bought this one. Can anyone tell me roughly how old it is / what it is? Thanks much.

    Hi there Matt
    Welcome
    Lovely thing, very lovely.
You have chosen well, an all original example, by the look of it.
The case is solid stainless (Lemania rarely used plated cases anyway).
No cluttering to the dial with tachymetres, telemetres or otherwise, a simple 0-60 outer track, no lume linear indices and major deco-style numerals.
Lozenge pushers, and a nice rounded crown. The crown looks like a third pusher, but I doubt it.
The bluing on the hands seems (from the photo, it may be misleading) to have gone a bit.
I would love to see the movement, but fancy that this is 1940s, possbly (just) 1930s and pre-war.
It is probably only 34-5mm diameter (without crown).
Some of the marks on the dial are a shame, but please do not restore it, it is perfectly legible, and best left original.
Please tell us more, where did you find it?
Have you had it worked upon yet?
Can you (carefully, and only if you are confident) remove the caseback and show us the movement?
    All the best
    Dave

    Thanks Dave,
I live near Berkeley, California. My neighbor is a collector of vintage time pieces, mostly Rolexes. I mentioned liking Lemania watches and he said he'd keep an eye out for me. A few weeks later he called me, excited, saying he'd found one. His story was that a reclusive collector/hoarder that he buys from had had it in his collection and he'd talked the guy into selling it along with some other pieces he was interested in.
He had someone look at it before selling it to me to make sure it was working well. I've never opened it myself. I will ask my friend if he or the person who inspected it initially could open it so I can get some pictures of the movement for you.

How nice, I wish people that I know would go and find me stuff like this.
The internal picture will give exactly which iteration of which movement is inside, which will assist in dating it.
It will also e interesting to see whether the movement bears an import code mark, Lemania's was BOL.
This would tell us whether it was originally sold into the US, or whether it was intended for another market.

@Matt F welcome, happy holidays to you, your family and a big shout out to your Neighbour. As mentioned above I'll bow to their advice. Keep it as is. I am trying to find an image that I think I've seen on an advert/poster. However no luck so far maybe it's the muldwine or the gray hairs that have got it wrong.

Congrats on your excellent first Lemania. Is there going to be a 2nd in 2017?

    Cheers
    Pat
