BBC stopwatch 7667
I am new to the forum. I have a BBC stopwatch with a black back, engraved BBC 7667. Stainless case and Black face ring. The dial face is white with BBC. The condition is as New and still in a box. Also stamped 7667.
I think it is from 1970. Has anyone any ideas or information please. Regards Dave

Hi Dave
Thanks for asking, I have added yours to the registry on page 1.
Not much more to tell really. It will be post 1971 as the BBC script (capitalised italices in a rhomboid background) was used from 1971.
The box is a nice addition, I would love to see photos.
Value is also hard to determine, these stopwatches usually surface on Ebay and the price realised has a lot to do with the qulity of the listing as well as the quality of the stopwatch. You may hope to get a couple of hundred for a ncie one with box, but I do think the earlier massive ones (12-hr) are considered more attractive, as the black cased versions ended up using more recent, lower grade movements.

If it's Lemania-powered, I'm interested. Tool Chrono - interested. Dive Chrono - interested. Interesting - interested

Lemania BBC 5844
Hi.
Picked this one up on auction today. BBC issue 5844.
Being a collector of Lemania watches in general this one fascinates me as the dial layout is very uncommon with minutes recorder at 12.
What movement that lurks underneath is hard to say.

My watchmaker should be able to tell when he gets it on his desk in a week or so.
Cheers

Sorry, spotted this a few days back when I was busy.
Hmmm, some observations, if I may.
Firstly, it certainly looks like a Lemania style of design in terms of dial, but for a movement I have no knowledge of. Definitely not Lemania (movement), that I am aware of.
Hands look like the type of thing they favoured too, very Sinn 140-ish
Lemania did make watches with other people's movements in (think Benthos, for instance).
But, the case?
I am not aware of any Lemania from this era in a plated brass case, they were all solid stainless.
this case design is very reminiscent of Tissots (with Lemania movements) of this period, but they too were solid cases.
In fact most manufacturers that used Lemania movements also used stainless cases - why put a nice movement in a cheap case.
Only Wakmann that I can recall off the top of my head used a plated case in this period with a LeEmania movement inside. I guess some others probably did too, but Lemania themselves??
Crown is clearly horrible.
Keep us posted, it will be interesting to see how this ends.
