A Lemania 5100 dating project
I hope this is not too ambitious, but I want to try and produce a Lemania 5100 dating database, so that we can all be pretty sure when any examples date from.
The way we do it is you tell me what watch you have, and dating information (for instance I had a Fortis Ducati Lemania 5100 only delivered in 2003, whereas a Porsche Design could date from 1979 all the way to 2000 or so, but date could be fixed by issue papers, service inscriptions on the caseback etc).
So we can say that serial number 4*******, found in a particular Heuer, comes from 1982-1985, for instance, as that was when it was in their catalogues.
Please be assured that I will be making none of this information public, your serial numbers will be used to generate a chart, with uncertainty bars, so that we can try and plot a line through it and decide what was manufactured when.
I have started with mine, and will post the graph as soon as I have got to grips with the new version of Excel, however, the progression looks sensible, even if I only have a dozen data points on it.
Omegas need not apply, they do not have the Lemania serial number on, only the Omega one.
However, all others are welcome - send them in.
You can either post them here (obliterating the last three numerals with asterisks if you want), or PM me.
I am particularly looking for numbers from specific editions with limited productions windows. Heuer Audi Sports, Lemania FC Vallee de Joux, Fortis B42 Lemanias etc. They give the best indication.
I know this will be ba bit approximate, makers can sit on stock, ADs can do the same, so that a receipt for a watch oin 1988 may contain a movement from 1985 etc, but I think it will be worth a try........
Look forward to hearing from you.
If it's Lemania-powered, I'm interested. Tool Chrono - interested. Dive Chrono - interested. Interesting - interested
