Default Bremont Townhouse 2017 The Visit

London ? Yes.. is this what people think of when they think London... no?
If you don't know London you'll think, Houses of Parliament or Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace perhaps....
But having lived there for many years this scene below is what makes me think London.... at one stage a lot of the city looked like this.... Fitzroy Square is one of these spots in the West End that seems unchanged and that is why I thought it was such a good choice as a statement of Britishness.....

Then you have the Post Office Tower poking out above the building that Bremont chose to use for their 2017 show of new watches...the Square built in 1792 by Robert Adam with Stone from Portland, Dorset dovetails with the Tower opened in 1966 by Tony Ben (also responsible for Concorde) That is London... new and old together.....

I've been to Basel World, it isn't a classy place.... it is like a shopping Mall.... for Brands... an overwhelming display of good, bad, but largely it is just excess and money.... I lived in London in the 80's.... watching the Wolf or Wall Street was a reminder... I don't need to go all the way across Switzerland to a provincial town to see that kind of stuff.....I like to consider what I am looking at... and this place... was a great place....

That Boeing chronograph looks brilliant on a bracelet... so many times as we know you see a watch on a different strap and you think... wow that's it!!

Wandering through the house... little signs pointing the way......

The usual issue with shooting watches in displays but they aren't set up to be obsessively photographed... this was a real event where you can handle the watches, see and admire them....

Giles and Nick really do have great taste and style bringing these amazing pieces of aviation to the rest of us... they definitely set the tone and a beautiful objects of engineering... very cool

The Norton... a watch I loved but as usual was not popular to begin with... as soon as they sold out I was getting called all the time about them so a great idea to make 200 silver dial versions to match with this Norton bike....love it......

May I just say that every house needs an E-Type bonnet on the wall.... just a tip....

The white dial Jag is an even better version than the black dial one I have and I love that watch.... but the Panda dial and white details in the registers really do catch the eye and sing....

Not dangerous but I was asked by a Chinese lady who was there exactly what these chairs were.... Yes Madame they are ejector seats.....

Not a massive fan of leather Natos but that mid brown strap looks wonderful on the Solo.....

The DH-88 is a lovely subtle piece of Art Deco design.... and that house was certainly the place where I have seen it look so comfortable..

I do love those chairs... I was offered some by Martin Baker but would need to sell 10 at a time..... anybody want one?

The business room... such a comfortable spot.... this is where the 2017 watches were displayed....

    Super Marine 2017

The sample no date Super Marine 301 2017 it is a lovely adaptation of the Bremont Trip Tic case and the history of diving....lovely piece..

    Lovely flow to the space..

The Airco Mach 1 2017 - simple and classy......

Downstairs were the Bremont Military displays but very busy when I was there and difficult to shoot.... but they have made so many cool watches.... Fortis used to do lots of Military watches but Bremont have taken the style and quality to a fantastic level..... love them..

On leaving it was like popping out after a dinner party... it felt comfortable... un stressed, nothing like Basel... which I found frantic... I had a great chat with Nick and Giles and all the Bremont folk, Claire, Katie, Drew... all great people... and I really think this is what they should do every year..... maybe a different site each time....

and so I popped out... caught Nick and Giles on the step.... and the end of a busy week... the story is as much about the event and space as it was about the watches... the watches are very good....
and yes they've done it again......which is phenomenal that they manage to get so many pieces produced and are different each time..... maybe one I wouldn't wear of the 2017 releases but not because it isn't good.... but because I am in the position that I can try these watches on before most... but I would advise anyone to try a few different Bremonts on because they all tell a different story..... cheers
