Thumbs up The BEST Modern Re Issues - POST THEM HERE!

I'd like to create a list of the best and with the next post the worst modern re issues in the watch market these days. I don't want to get into geeky detail about re release date accuracies.. its the aesthetics of the pieces I am interested in... not their faithful accuracy to the original as some re issues I think are better than the vintage.

I've been involved with vintage watches, collecting and selling since what I would consider was one of the first modern 'Re Issues' so I will start things here... and in no particular order.

    TAG Heuer Monaco
Personally I think this is quite a nice watch, not particularly faithful to the original pictured below but when they were 1,450 RRP I thought a good buy.

Heuer Cal.15 Original - This watch is now in the TAG Heuer Museum after they bought it fro me.

    Longines Heritage Diver

Not sure why this is a diver as chronographs aren't great in water but it sure looks cool with lots of nice details... personally I don't need the 4pm date which will upset some people but not biggy for me... and at $2,400 ish is pretty well priced for a cool modern watch...

No probs, all I was aying was that the Longines would be improved by looking like this

It gets away from the date, and the confusion of having 3 different types of sub-dial at once.

I was also suggesting that Longines give me serial number 1 when they make it.

Ha - yup - looks better like that Dave, I agree, but very nice in original state still I think.

I just threw in a couple of other watches with that 'big eye' configuration (more or less)

The Aquastar Deepstar and the Universal Geneve Uni-Compax:

....And yes - the Cairelli reissue is also superb - no date either, very close to the original and very nice for it!

....andmy contribution is the relaunched ZRC Etanche Grands Fonds, which kept the series one handset and bezel; the most interesting version imo:

Great case that Andy... I dunno I know what you mean about stripped down but I like the Longines busy and as you know you hardly ever get that straight on look when on the wrist... as for the 'Big Eye' well I owned quite a few Aquastars (I even wore one when I got married) - now sold but I never got a hold of a UG even though I tried for years and DaveS can attest... however I am not sure why everyone goes overboard about these watches.... yes they are cool looking but there are lots of very cool looking watches out there..... I do like the ZRC though....
